HSE celebrate 35 years

by jimmy on October 2, 2009

1st October 2010 is anniversary time at HSE. HSE mark 35 years by declaring that it relishes the on going challenge of its safety mission as much today as it did when it was formed in 1974 by the passing of The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.

This Act has improved safety performance by more than 70 per cent, and the UK now has one of the best combined health and safety records of any country in the world. Although the reduction in heavy industry in the UK has affected the statistics Safety Professionals can still be proud of this improvement. It is still a sombre fact that 180 people lost their lives at work last year and thousands more suffered early deaths caused by disease and illness related to their work.

HSE’s aim to keep reducing work related deaths and injury goes on and here at Accounting For Safety our passion for inspiring safe working practices is undiminished.
